More Christmas card ideas

Our new Snow Flurry Die #127813 for $21.95 can be used two ways. The first way I used it was as a negative to sponge the color on the white card. The second way was to die cut in Bashful Blue and Silver Glimmer paper the snowflakes.
This card uses the Delightful Decorations #116517 for $21.95 with the matching punch #119847 for $16.95 to punch out the shapes for a quick card. I also die cut with the Window Frames collection #129021 for $26.95 for a set of 6 dies.

These two cards were part of a Christmas Stamp A Stack on Oct. 25.

Christmas Stamp A Stack

My Christmas Stamp A Stack is October 19 at 6:30 pm.  Here are some of the cards we will be making. I love the Lattice Die and Ornament Keepsake done in Brushed Gold cardstock and Elegant Eggplant.
This card is created with the Window Frames Collection Dies. The ornament is from Delightful Decorations. The saying is from the  More Many Messages. The colors don't really show the true colors. It is Cherry Cobbler and Wild Wasabi.
Cute embossed in Cherry Cobbler Candy Canes in the Decorator Frame brightens this Holiday card.

Make your own it is cheaper!!

Image: Cards
cards: 200 percent markup

AP
The best greeting cards anyone ever keeps, are those made by hand. Either the crayon scribble of a child or a heartfelt note by a friend, are more likely to be kept forever than a generic card bought at the grocery store for $2 or $4.
So why do people pay the 200 percent markup that stores put on greeting cards? For the convenience. Buying that mass-produced card is a lot easier than making one at home. If you don't want to draw your own card, then print one out online. Paper and ink cost money, but printing them at home for virtually nothing beats paying $4 at the store.

Now that you know the truth about those bought greeting cards, call me to learn how to make your own!!

Halloween Ideas

I just love making these cascading cards. They look so complicated but are really quite simple. The fun starts when you decide how to decorate them. This one used the Googly Ghouls and Wickedly Cool sets. The Howlstooth and Scaringbone designer series paper is great for Halloween or for a more masculine type card. Check out the Holiday Mini catalog to view more products.  Book a party and we can make this for your party or the one below.

This is a sidestep card. Lots of punches were used to create the pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and more. These two cards are part of my classes for Oct. 1-2. The fee is only $10.

Ribbon Flower

This is one of the cards we did for a ribbon technique class. You start with 11" of satin ribbon and cut slits from one side every inch. The slits are most of the way across also. Take a 1 3/8" circle punch and punch a double sided adhesive paper. Peel one side and start on the inside and begin to go around and adhere the ribbon to the circle. When finished, heat slightly to curl the ribbon. I added a pearl to hide the center.

The card is early espresso with a layer 4" x 5 1/4" of very vanilla that I used the Elegant Lines embossing folder with. Then sponged EE over the raised area. The bottom EE was made with the Finishing Touches edgelit.

Three Fancy Folds

Ghoulish Ghouls is such a cute set that you can do so many things with. This is a waterfall card that flips over each card when you pull the ribbon at the bottom. The last one has the Booo saying. This is available in the current Holiday mini catalog.
CASCADING CARD

These cards are truly amazing to see and so easy to create once you make one or two. They are also fun to design. Your imagination is all it takes. These cards were two of the cards that we will be making at the Fancy Folds Class.

I made the card below for Garey's cousin who loves nature and fishing.

Friday, August 24, 2012

Summer Silhouette is a beautiful set that is so versatile. Here I used a white card with Perfect Polka Dots folder and the Adorning Accents edgelits to create a card. The leaves are overlapped inside the card also with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. The lovely leaves sizzlit matches the flowers to continue the pattern.

Goodbye to my Demonstrator Website

My demonstrator website is disappearing on July 14. I will be maintaining this blog instead. You can still order online with the www.stampinup.com and use my  name, Joan Norman, as your demonstrator, to order online. I hold classes in my home and welcome all new customers. If you would like to be on my emailing list of classes, please email em at stampnjoan@gmail.com
       Happy Fourth of July

We made this card for the holiday. We used a Whisper White card with Red Glitter and Night of Navy cardstock. I also used the retired star punch. Later I added a banner that said, Happy Fourth of July. Inside was a stamp that said Celebrate Today.

A new hostess set is A Cherry on Top. It is easy to stamp with because each part is separate. The colors used were our new In  Colors for 2012-2014. I used Primrose Petals, Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit. The other new colors are Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.

New Stampin' Up Pads

Well, after using every new ink pad I purchased several times, I can honestly say I love them more than the old pads and I know you’re going to love these new Stampin’ Up Ink Pads, too!
Here’s what I found: Stampin’ Up’s new ink pads provide better ink coverage for your stamps! Light-tap stamping produces flawless images…no need to twist, twist, tap, tap, tap on the pad before you stamp! The ink pads are juicier which means they will have better ink pad longevity!
New Foam Pads from Stampin' Up!
In addition, our new Stampin’ Pads
  • Have a crisply printed, glossy label on the top of the pad that is easier to read and that will not fade or chip off!
  • Come with color name labels in all four languages (English, Spanish, French, and German)-just choose your language, peel it off the back, and add it to the side of the pad for easy identification!
  • Use the same patented flip-top case design that stores the inking surface upside down, so the pad surface stays moist!
  • Are available in all colors, including our exclusive In Colors!
Please note: Five ink colors have undergone formula changes to improve functionality and color stability with the new firm foam pads. These colors are:
  • Basic Black
  • Basic Gray
  • Marina Mist
  • Perfect Plum
  • Tempting Turquoise
All five colors of the reformulated inks have been fully tested and approved. While using the new reinkers in the old Stampin’ Up Ink Pads is fine, Stampin’ Up does not recommend using the old reinkers in the new firm foam pads.
Additional features you’re gonna love:
  • The firm foam is nice and flat and will not become wavy.
  • The firm foam material does not imprint on the stamp images like the felt pad sometimes did. However, because the firm foam material is a foam base material, the stamp image can momentarily leave an imprint on the pad, which can transfer to a second stamped image. By inking your stamp on different areas of the pad or waiting momentarily for the ink to rise back to the top, you can easily avoid this situation.
  • The firm foam material is soft and has a nice bounce to it. It’s not hard like the felt is.
  • The ink lay-down (how the ink is absorbed into the card stock) is even, not blotchy, and dries quickly. It has an increased opacity and stamps solid images beautifully.

Edgellits and Framelits +1

This is a cute simple birthday card using the beautiful designer series paper from the mini catalog called Sweet Shop #125408. Don't miss out as this retires on April 30.
This baby card is a line of baby clothes for a boy and girl. Can you guess what the clothes are made from? Yes, it is the owl punch!!  This is the vest for the owl. This is one of the cards from my stamp a stack for edgelits and framelits.
This card was oroiginally by Debbie Olsen in pretty in pink but I changed it to perfect plum. I used the labels framelit, the embossing folder oval and the edgelits die with embossing folder to match. This is another card from my Friday night class on edgelits and framelit.

I earned this Packed for Everything Stamp bundle by being a demonstrator and sales. This is the Packed for Mom stamp which made a really pretty card for a Mother's day or female birthday.

Finally this card was a vellum card shown by Sherril Graf. I loved the colors and the delicate look of the flowers that are colored on the back of embossed vellum. This is one of my cards for my stamp a stack.

Purse, Pen and Card class

Purse and Card class
This is the Purse and Pen that holds the cards.
My class consists of the purse card with matching pen and 8 cards. I used a quick card handout that will be given to create the cards. My grandson, Dustin's favorite was the window card that has a window cut out in the center of the card. The class in Friday, February 17 at my house.

Labels Framelits
One of the wonderful new products in the Occasions Mini catalog are the Label Framelits. This is an easel card using them and also the Apothecary Art set.
Another new product is the Edgelits dies and Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Adorning Accents. Also the Bordering on Romance set that matches the framelits is used.
Guess what this cute gift is made from.
           Toilet Paper Rolls!!!
Yes, by wrapping smashed toilet paper rolls with my Big Shot and covering them with the FREE designer series paper in the SAB catalog you can create cute albums. There are pull out inserts that I used for pictures of my grandchildren.
 Technique: Double Embossing
This was another card that we made at class. The background is covered in the debossed area with versamark and iridescent ice embossing powder. The second embossing is with the vintage wallpaper textured impressions folder called Vintage Wallpaper.

I really like the way this card turned out. We used the SAB FREE set called Elementary Elegance. The colors are soft suede, river rock. and chocolate chip with very vanilla.

Occasions Mini Catalog Kreations

This card uses the Edgelits and Bordering on Romance set. I also used the oval  Designer Frame.  I used some of the paisley petals dsp that I had.

This card is cased from one by Connie Babbert. I used the Hello Doily background stamp with versamark and a mixture of white embossing powder and Iridescent Ice on the background of Pool party. The set is  Bordering on Romance. The colors are Pool Party, Blushing Bride and Soft Suede.

Telescoping Card

I LOVE the new FRAMELITS!!!  These are so great to create a telescoped card like the one I made today. With the various sizes of the Heart Framelits, you can take one image and stamp it several times, color all, then cut into various sizes. Each size is popped up with a dimensional to create the Telescoped card.

The set is the Take It to Heart set. I really like the banner that is in the set also. I used a mini glue dot to adhere just the ends to the banner so it pops up also.

The background is the wonderful Vintage Wallpaper background embossing folder. This is a very quick and beautiful card to make.

My next class will highlight the framelit and edgelit dies. "I sure hope I get my edgelits before class time also. If not, we will definitly use the Label and Heart Framelits!!

Next class is Monday night, Jan. 23 and Tuesday, Jan. 24. Don't forget to RSVP!!  Book your party  now because the biggest sale of the year:SALE-A-BRATION starts next week too.

Valentine's Ideas for You

I am lovin' this P.S. I Love You set. It has so many wonderful stamps that can be used for a variety of cards and gifts for your special someone for Valentine's Day. The strawberry card was inked with markers and the bottom has Crystal Effects to appear like the Chocolate is Yummy and shiny. The strawberry's top has RED Dazzling Details which is NEW and so cute on the strawberries.

This cute little Triangle Box is a pattern  that is so easy to create.
1. Cut cardstock to 4 1/4" x 11". Then trim to 4 1/4" x 9". Keep the other piece for the small card. Score at 4 1/4" and fold in half.
2. Open back up flat.  Find the midpoint of the 4 1/4" which is 2 1/8" and make a small mark on each end.
3. Using my Simply Scoring  board. I scored a line from the 2 1/8" to the middle scored line on the end of the line. If the cardstock is vertical, it looks like a line from the midpoint to the right edge at the center fold. Do the same on the other side from midpoint to side. Turn around and do the same on the other end. Score well and fold. Punch a 1/8" or 1/4" circle punch on the ends that fold on both sides. Then thread a ribbon through the holes.  Decorate as you desire.

The last idea uses the background stamp called Tool Shed. I LOVE this stamp because it is awesome for a do-it-yourselfer who loves tools. I used the new Heart Framelits to cute the hearts.
